Meeting time will be determined based on the availability of interested students.
High school students are invited to join Mrs. Katie for a four-week elective exploring the ideas and imaginations of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Owen Barfield. Part literature and part philosophy, this short course will explore how the Inklings approached Christianity, writing, creativity, and the idea of the redeemed imagination, considering how imagination and storytelling can help us encounter truth, goodness, and beauty in fresh ways.
Each weekly gathering will center on a short work or essay, thoughtful discussion, and afternoon tea. Weekly writing prompts will give students the opportunity to play with these ideas and exercise their own imaginative thinking. This is designed as an enrichment elective rather than a full literature course, so readings and assignments will be short and the outside workload will be light.
